Welcome to 2018

2018 has started and with kids and grandkids visits over, it is good to consider what is ahead in a quieter atmosphere.

I had 2 close friends pass away over the holidays and it made me reflect that we can never know how long we have.   So my first point is:

The time to pray is NOW:

      - We don’t know how long we have

      - Our grandkids need prayer NOW – for what’s happening NOW

      - We can sow into their lives NOW things that will help them in their future

The second point is a reflection on what the New Year brings.  New challenges for our grandkids, such as schools, relationships, jobs, families.  May God go with them in all their ventures and adventures, guiding their footsteps.  What a great promise it is that God will do this.

With the holidays over there is much to be thankful for:

       - Safe holiday travel and adventures

       - Good family times

       - New friendships developed

Finally, as a Granddad we need to make that extra effort:

       - Just doing ‘normal’ won’t always set us apart in our grandkids eyes

       - It’s a great time to consider writing to, and praying for our grandkids to let them know we are travelling with them, and that we are interested in them (not                   just when they are with us or when we see them at holidays)

      -  It’s going the ‘extra mile’ that makes the difference

We can be the ones helping to make their lives count.

God bless as we start this year and enjoy the responsibilities of being a mighty “Granddad”.
